Meet Dr. Jonelle Cox

I love making a difference in someone’s life. Changing a person’s smile and self-esteem, and being able to take someone out of pain immediately is so rewarding.

What I love most about my patients is the tremendous change and involvement that occurs after they are thoroughly educated about their oral health despite any prior bad experiences. The majority of Smile Savers patients take charge of their oral health and exude a whole new enthusiasm for their oral care and appearance.

I feel so very lucky to be a part of this change, and look forward to many years of helping patients in the future.

Education and Continuing Education

The landscape of dentistry is always evolving. Dentistry has so many new innovations that make the scope of treatment vast and provide various options for patients. Technology, along with new materials, allows for so many advances that otherwise would not have been available.

To stay abreast of these changes, I continue my education in many different ways. My staff and I attend the American Dental Association annual meeting as well as the Greater New York Dental Meeting, and take courses in dental office management as well as new procedures and products and different dental techniques.

I am also part of the United States Dental Institute, which is an organization composed of general dentists who teach one another how to do orthodontics. I am also a new member of the International Dental Implant Association, which provides education and support for dental implants and various periodontal surgeries.

Outside the Office

I was born and raised in Brooklyn, and my family is of Caribbean descent. I’ve spent many summers and holidays in Antigua, Grenada, and Jamaica on visits to my very close, large family. I have recently been blessed with two amazing little people who keep my life quite full when I am out of the office. I love to travel and see new places. Learning new cultures and observing different ways of life is always enjoyable, especially getting to try new foods.

Inspiring underserved youth in my community is one of the major things I miss about my prior career as a schoolteacher. I do my best to give back through dentistry, with oral dental screenings and career days at various schools and by providing internships here at my office. I do dental missions in the various countries I visit.
